Abstract Submission Guidelines

All abstracts should be written and submitted in PDF, and please save your abstract using this format:

“MAALIC2025Paper-yourLastName” 

Abstract format:

  • Font face: Times New Roman, and size: 11 points.
  • The abstract should be between 200-250 words.
  • The abstract must be written in English; if the paper is in a different language, two abstracts must be written. Ensure that the first abstract is in English and the second is in the chosen language for the paper. For example:
  • Your paper is written in Arabic. The first abstract must be in English, and the second abstract must be in Arabic. 
  • Your paper is written in Mandarin. The first abstract must be in English, and the second abstract must be in Mandarin.
    • The abstract should be submitted for blind reviews. There should not be any indication of the participant(s) or the affiliation(s) of the participant(s) on the same document. 
    • You need to submit a separate title page which states the title of your paper, details of each author/presenter (full name, full affiliation address, and email address), and a brief biography of each author/presenter (50 words for each author).
  • Indicate clearly the corresponding author (if there are two or more presenters)

Symposium Abstract (Approx. 250–300 words):

This symposium brings together scholars in applied linguistics to critically examine [core theme or issue], focusing on its theoretical implications and practical applications across diverse linguistic and sociocultural contexts. In light of recent developments in [relevant subfield or issue—e.g., language policy, multilingual education, digital discourse], this session offers an interdisciplinary platform to explore how language intersects with [education, identity, technology, migration, etc.].

The papers presented address a range of contexts, methodologies, and populations, including [examples—e.g., heritage language learners, immigrant communities, classroom discourse, online communication].
